Laura Tuomi
Serves as the Director of the Marine Research Unit at the Finnish Meteorological Institute and is responsible for physical oceanography and sea ice research conducted in Finland. She has extensive experience in physical oceanography, particularly in modeling the Baltic Sea. She has participated in numerous national and international projects and is a member of several national and international expert committees related to marine observations and forecasting.

Leena Kalliovirta
Serves as a University Lecturer in Statistics at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Helsinki. Her areas of expertise include time-series analysis and econometric modeling. She has experience in empirical research in both the natural and social sciences, applying a wide range of statistical models such as Markov chain models, logistic regression, factor analysis models, mixed models, and multivariate time series models.

Veli-Pekka Tynkkynen
is a Professor of Russian Environmental studies at the Aleksanteri Institute of the University of Helsinki and an Adjunct Professor at the National Defence University. He leads a research group focused on Russian energy and environmental policy, energy security, and political power. He regularly provides expert statements to authorities and commentary to the media.

Niina Kotamäki
works as the group manager of environmental modelling in the Marine and Freshwater Solutions unit at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke). Her expertise relates to environmental impact assessment, associated modelling, and monitoring the effects of climate change in coastal and inland waters. His research interests focus on uncertainty assessments and strengthening the role of models in the implementation of environmental legislation and policy.

Aleksi Nummelin
is a tenure-track Research Professor in coastal oceanography at the Finnish Meteorological Institute. He has extensive experience in physical oceanography and climate science, and has also expanded his research into marine-based energy solutions. He is additionally a member of the national coordination group for the management of sea and coastal waters.

Johannes Jauhiainen
works as an expert at Demos Helsinki. He has extensive experience in research communication and co-creation, both in Finland and in international contexts.

Syke PI

Päivi Haapasaari
works as a Senior Researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke). As a social scientist, she has extensive experience in the interdisciplinary study of marine socio-ecological systems. She has conducted wide-ranging research on issues related to marine and maritime governance risks, and has developed approaches for risk and decision analysis. She is particularly interested in the interface between science and policy. She also has strong experience in collaboration with stakeholders.
